The book of 2 Corinthians gives us some of the greatest insights into the motivations, sorrows, and joys of the Apostle Paul. He goes to great lengths to protect his beloved Corinthian friends from the false teachers who were gaining influence over them. In order to guard his friends from the lies being spread about him, Paul seeks to dispel the “fake news” spread about him, so the truth of God would not be hindered in their hearts. Paul dreaded defending himself, but did so for their sake, so their faith would not be harmed. Along the way, we gain great insight into what a life sold out to the Lord looks like—and how we can follow Paul’s example in doing all for Jesus’ sake.
