1 John
/In this first letter from the Apostle John, we see John at his fatherly best. He seeks to strengthen, prepare, and fill up the believers with truth and hope so they can navigate the challenges of life. Doesn’t that sound like just the perfect book for us today?
John wants us to understand God better and understand how we can know Him better. We learn that God wants us to know how we can give Him glory with our lives! The message is so simple really. There are no secrets. And it is all undergirded by God’s deep love for us—He is our Father, and we are His children. John seeks to keep believers walking in the truth. He wants us to live out our most genuine faith in the most God-honoring way, while seeking to protect us from sin and false teaching.
I will be forever changed by studying Jesus’ purpose and its life changing implications for my life as seen in 1 John 3:5, “You know that He appeared in order to take away sins; and in Him there is no sin.” And from 1 John 3:8, “The Son of God appeared for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil.”
